In case you're interested...

For the past few years I've written a hunting dog column for Texas Wildlife, the magazine of the Texas Wildlife Association. TWA doesn't maintain an electronic archive, so I've started uploading the published columns to my website. I have a few there now, and I plan to get the rest of them, along with selected feature articles, uploaded over the next several days. You can read them here.

Most of the columns are aimed at beginners, so experienced working dog folks probably won't learn much from them. Still, bird dog lovers might enjoy reading about hounds, and houndsmen might enjoy reading about retrievers, and so on.

Enjoy!

Great articles Henry. Not just good dog stuff but fine examples of quality, salable features. I will keep them on hand for later reverse-engineering. :-)

You didn't mention the mighty treeing whippet in your squirrel dog articles. I don't hold it against you but I'm a little hurt.

Thanks for checking them out, Mike. If you read the Chesapeake piece, you know that I'm a big fan of the breed. Naturally, I was delighted when you teamed up with Booker.

Matt, I'm saving the mighty treeing whippet for my sight hound piece. I can see it now: "Guns, pointers, retrievers, curs, and scent hounds are for wimps," says Matt Mullenix. "Real men run sight hounds. And if you don't like it, I'll come to Texas and kick your ass!"

Seriously, I'm thinking of pitching a sight hound piece to my editor. He'll be looking for ideas for next year's columns in a few weeks. I could interview you and Steve and maybe your buddy in Amarillo. Maybe Wyman or Russell could get up there and take a few photos. What do you think?

Dont know if my last lengthy comment made it to you. Blogger ate it.

In short, I'd love for you to do a sighthound piece!

Matt, I didn't receive your lengthy comment, but thanks for the effort. I'll pitch the idea to my editor, and we'll see what happens. I predict he'll go for it.
