Matt, then again I suppose I could cobble something together with enough help from experts. In fact I think I'll pitch a sightound piece for early next year if you'll help me out. Deal?

Deal. :-) You can bone up with Dutch Salmon's "Gazehounds and Coursing." I think most folks will be surprised by the diversity of these dogs as well as their widespread current use in the plains.

One aspect that I think would appeal to you Henry is their popularity in the homsteader-era frontiers. TR rode with the hounds and hunted coyotes, jacks and pronghorn with dogs that look like track greyhounds in the photos. The juxtaposition of cowboys, chuckwagons, bowties and longdogs makes me wish for a Western flick based on coursing...
